Wiebe is a German surname, sometimes misspelled Weibe. The 'b' comes from the German 'ß' (double 's'). The family name Wiebe is allegedly meant to signify whiteness, as in "white woman" or "white man", depending upon which gender is being referred to. It is said that the Wiebe surname has been adjusted to reflect many variations in the United States. This is mainly because of its close association to Old Germany, and Adolf Hitler. ==List of people== * Adam Wiebe (–1653), Dutch engineer * Alejandro Wiebe (born 1970), Argentine television personality * Armin Wiebe (21st century), Canadian novelist * Art Wiebe (1912-1971), Canadian ice hockey player * Cainan Wiebe (born 1995), Canadian actor * Cornelius Wiebe (1893-1999), Canadian physician * Ella Wiebe (21st century), New Zealand association footballer * Jack Wiebe (1936-2007), Canadian politician * Karl-Heinz Wiebe (born 1916), German engineer * Mark Wiebe (born 1957), American golfer * Matt Wiebe (21st century), Canadian politician * Nettie Wiebe (born 1949), Canadian professor * Phillip H.
